Residential Program

Keswick School’s residential program comprises nearly two-thirds of our daily programming and is made up of four dorm groups: Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, and Yellow House. Each dorm is staffed by two or more staff during all waking hours. Overnight staff split the week into two shifts: one running from Sunday through Wednesday, and the other, from Wednesday through Saturday. Overnight staff sleep in their own bedroom in the dorm at night.

Students are assigned dorms based on careful consideration of goodness of fit within a social developmental peer group. This means that students are placed in a group that best matches their strengths and needs with peers who are working on similar skills. All dorms are comprised of single and double occupancy rooms. We consider a student’s wishes, therapeutic needs, and room availability when choosing whether or not he will have a roommate. Generally, students remain in the same dorm for the full school year unless it is therapeutically beneficial for a student to move to a different dorm.

Residential instructors provide continuous supervision and engagement with students. They receive feedback and direction from each student’s primary therapist through office hours, staff meetings, and advisory team meetings so that we can consistently provide intervention and reinforcement of therapeutic goals.
