Woodshop

Woodworking has been part of the school's programming since its inception. Keswick School founder Bob Wilson was an avid woodworker who imparted his knowledge and passion to students from the very beginning. For many of our students, working in our woodshop is their first exposure to the activity, which often becomes a lifelong interest. Woodworking provides a wonderful opportunity for students to develop a positive sense of self through the accomplishment of creating a concrete product from raw materials.

In the woodshop, students learn to use hand and power tools safely. Each student makes a series of projects that may include a birdhouse, pinewood derby car to be raced in a community event, model rubber band-powered boat for the annual regatta, and an assortment of personal projects that may include a pen, cutting board, instrument, table, clock, lamp, game, or bowl.
