Art
Students receive art instruction as part of afternoon activities. During these classes, they learn basic art concepts such as form, color theory, uses of various mediums, and basic art history appreciation. Classes are project-based, with lessons presented and applied in the context of hands-on art activities that enrich students’ understanding of art and teach new skills while creating a concrete product.
Each spring, in addition to regularly scheduled art classes, students participate in a poetry and art unit. During this unit, students learn to write poems and have the chance to submit them to our annual poetry contest. We also hold a community art event where students learn new art techniques and contribute to a community art project displayed during our end-of-year events.
