Endowment Giving
The Power of Endowment: Devoted and generous alumni, past parents and friends have already established two endowed funds that provide permanent income to Keswick School. Endowment donors sustain the pursuit of excellence through gifts that literally give forever. Under prudent management these resources support the School’s immediate priorities and long-term goals.
The following are our priorities for endowment giving:
Student Scholarships
The Founders’ Scholarship was established in 2016 to provide tuition assistance each year to a student who would benefit from the therapeutic and educational programs at TKS and who has exhibited financial need. Established with an initial donation of $100,000 by an anonymous donor, this generous contribution is the first gift to create an endowment fund at TKS. The Founders’ Scholarship will exist and grow in perpetuity and will make TKS more accessible to many students and families. Additional contributions to this fund will expand its reach to even more students and may be made by all interested individuals or organizations.
Teaching Excellence
The Furth Family Endowment for Professional Development at Keswick School was established with a pledge by the Furth Family In appreciation of the transformative therapy their son received as a student at TKS and in gratitude for the excellent faculty and staff. This endowment will provide funding to establish new programs and support continuing professional growth, enhancing the knowledge and skills of clinical, residential and academic faculty and staff.
General Endowment A General Endowment allows TKS to use earnings for any purpose deemed necessary for the benefit of the School, our students, and our faculty and staff.
As an endowment donor, you will enter into a distinctive relationship with TKS because:
- The principal of your endowed fund will remain invested and untouched in perpetuity, securing the growth of the fund and permanent support for the need or program at TKS that is close to your heart.
- Personalized, annual endowed fund reports will give you the satisfaction of knowing how your funds impact the school. You will enjoy a unique, lifelong connection to TKS and campus life.
- You will provide a permanent place for your extended family to channel their resources to the school.
- Your name or the name of a loved one or faculty/staff member will be remembered at TKS for countless generations.
Endowment Guidelines
Endowments are established legally as independent funds, and their financial returns are audited each year. As a result, the School has established policies to help avoid creating funds that incur costs while yielding minimal benefit.
At present, an endowment fund may be created with a minimum of $100,000 and a named endowment fund may be created with a minimum of $300,000. Once this threshold is reached, a portion of the fund’s earnings (4% of the prior three years’ average market value) will be allocated to achieve the fund’s goal.
