Therapeutic Riding
The equestrian program at TKS presents the students with a challenge that can be mastered, offering students a sense of accomplishment, as well as mental, emotional, and physical benefits in a venue they enjoy. In addition to the regular equestrian program the boys participate in during afternoon activities, many boys benefit from private riding. The lessons promote self-control; improve comprehension and memory skills; develop body localization, spatial organization, visual acuity and form discrimination. Students improve balance and range of motion, build muscle strength and benefit from the relaxing rhythmical movements of a horse. Our boys form relationships with the horses. The association between horse and rider fosters feelings of independence, control and confidence; a valuable opportunity for our boys.
