After graduating from Nyack College, Karin worked as a barista and always sought to have a positive impact on others. She traveled to India for 3 months to volunteer with a handicraft production company empowering women in Kolkata. She spent a year in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, working at a training center with girls who had been rescued from human trafficking and honing their coffee skills. In 2015, Karin helped set up and manage a non-profit coffee shop in Philadelphia dedicated to hiring and mentoring former foster youth aging out of care and equipping them with knowledge and job skills to be successful. Most recently, Karin worked at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health as a Direct Support Professional in both their academic and residential programs.
“I have consistently been drawn to opportunities that would allow me to make a difference in someone else’s life and empower them for the future, and I am eager to continue this trend at TKS. I believe that the relationship-focused program and the commitment and dedication of their staff is unlike any other; leading to real change in the lives of the young men that they serve.”
Karin loves spending time outdoors and often goes hiking, camping and kayaking with her husband. She also dabbles in painting and enjoys reading and yoga.
