Alexys completed one of her clinical rotations at Keswick School, where she was able to integrate herself with the TKS community. During this time, she gained experience in occupational therapy evaluation and intervention in a non-traditional setting. She completed her doctoral capstone in post-secondary transitions, where she gained experience in supporting students with disabilities in their transition from school to adult roles.
“From the moment I set foot on campus I felt welcomed by this community. TKS afforded me the opportunity to grow as a professional and as a person during my time as an intern. Now, as an occupational therapist, I hope to return the favor. The occupational therapy profession operates on the principles of ‘health, well-being, and quality of life,’ and these are the principles that guide my practice. I am grateful to be able to support the students in their journeys here at TKS, to champion their strengths, and to help them build the skills they need to take on any challenge.”
In her free time, Alexys enjoys strength-training, reading, crafting, and spending time with her dogs, Sinbad and Pua.
